iPod, uPod, we all scream for iPod

Yes, I finally bit the small, white bullet.

I really shouldn’t have, but in light of y100 disappearing from the landscape, I felt the need to do something to combat the dwindling number of choices on the air. When I turned on my car this morning, I heard yucky urban music instead of the Preston and Steve show that I’ve become accustomed to. That was very disappointing to say the least.

More than that, I’ve actually been using iTunes lately to help organize my not inconsiderable music collection, and I have to say I like it a lot more than I thought I would. In retrospect, iTunes is really a cleaner, more user friendly version of what the Nullsoft boys were trying to do with the much hyped WinAmp 3 several years back. I avoided iTunes for awhile probably because of my disappointment with WinAmp 3 (and later WinAmp 5), but I’ve actually caught myself thinking recently that iTunes has revitalized my interest in recorded music again because it’s so much easier now to see at a glance what I have to choose from — or just let iTunes choose for me. Getting an iPod is the merely the next logical step.

Despite the high price tag, I can definitely say I’ll get a lot of use out of it. In the end I think it will be worth it.

    Hmm… an iPod, huh?

Yes, I was very sad this morning when I got into the car and instead of Y100 I got the intruder-station.

Will your iPod need a cosy?

It’s worth it. It really is. They are really well designed devices.

The odd thing is that you went backwards–you bought the Mac first. I think the idea was to bring converts to the computer system, not the other way around.
